In India the organ donation scenario isn't very good as many people do not pledge to donate their organs mostly because of fear or so many myths that surround the practice. Recently, Government urged to strengthen organ donation norms. According to a petition, a comprehensive policy on organ donation has been framed which ensures everyone could become organ donors post death. However, they join an official register to opt out from this policy.
The petition says, "Unless the person or family had previously expressed a clear wish for or against donation, hospitals should be authorised to harvest the organs. Relevant authorities should also make it easier to get required permissions and complete procedures in quick time so that vital organs are not wasted," (Read: Why are Indians reluctant to donate organs? )
