Google Celebrates Singer KK Today, Who Succumbed To Cardiac Arrest 2 Years Ago

The singer had his last concert in Kolkata in May 2022. He was said to have suffered from a heart attack and died on his way to the hospital.

Prolific Indian singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as 'KK' -- who died at the age of 53 on May 31, 2022 following a cardiac arrest while performing at a concert in Kolkata -- is being remembered and celebrated as Google's Doodle today. His death shocked the entire world, especially the Indian music industry, of which he was a key part. Take a look at the doodle here.

It is neither the singer's birth nor death anniversary today. He was born on August 23, 1968 in Delhi. During the course of his long and inimitable career, KK lent his voice not only to the Hindi music industry, but he also sung in several regional languages including Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi, Odia, Assamese, Gujarati, and Bangla.

The doodle celebrates his soulful voice and romantic tracks like 'Tadap Tadap Ke', 'Bas Ek Pal', 'Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai', 'Dus Bahane', etc.

Before his death, KK had performed at a college festival concert at the famous Nazrul Mancha in South Kolkata. During his way back to the hotel, the singer complained of uneasiness and feeling generally unwell. From his hotel in Esplanade, he was taken to Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) when his condition deteriorated. Apparently, he had collapsed and the staff was unable to resuscitate him. The singer ultimately succumbed to cardiac arrest.

The singer's autopsy report revealed he had died because of myocardial infarction (heart attack). But, he could have survived if he had received timely cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), especially after he had lost consciousness. Doctors around the world continue to stress on the importance of this crucial life-saving skill that people ought to know, for it can come handy during such moments, when one awaits medical help. A CPR can be administered to an unconscious patient whose heart may have stopped working momentarily, to revive them.

Unfortunately for the singer, he had purportedly complained of shoulder and arm pain several days prior to his demise, but everyone -- including his family -- thought it was because of digestive problems. According to the autopsy report, he had 80 per cent of heart blockage. The singer also suffered from severe lung condition that caused a fluid build-up in his lungs, along with chronic liver issues.
