Hillary Clinton, Serena Williams, Michelle Obama, Jane Goodall, Malala Yousafzai. Imagine these women as role models for your daughters. And now imagine Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, Goldilocks, The Little Mermaid, Hansal & Grethel in the same roles. Who would you want your daughters to look up to? Brave, smart, REAL women achievers who beat all odds and made a name for themselves? Or beautiful, self-doubting girls who needed to be rescued by handsome princes in faraway make-believe lands? Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls is a book for those girls who like women who belong to the former category. Also Read - 3 books single parents should read with their children

The book contains one page stories of 100 women including Amelia Earheart, The Bronte Sisters, Coco Chanel, Queen Elizabeth, Frida Kahlo, Helen Keller, Simone Biles, Yoko Ono, Marie Curie and other incredible figures from art, fashion, sports, politics, literature, science, astronomy and medicine, from across different religions, races and nationalities. There are two Indians on the list too –queen and warrior Lakshmi Bai and boxer Mary Kom. The stories reflect the dreams and aspirations of these women, how they went about trying to fulfill them, the numerous obstacles they encountered while doing so, the way they tackled them and emerged victorious in the end. The book is full of real life problems and lessons that its young readers are very likely to encounter in their own lives. Afraid of bullies in school trying to take you down because you’re a strong opinionated girl? Hillary Clinton faced this too, at every stage in her life, and eventually rose up to become America’s first woman presidential candidate. At a time when scientists observed chimpanzees from far away with binoculars, one woman started a ‘banana club’ to live with chimpanzees and share bananas with them to get to know them better. After years of trying to get the animals’ trust, Jane Goodall was finally able to become one with them, publish groundbreaking studies and became the world’s most famous primatologist. Writers Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo have a powerful message – ‘No matter the importance of their discoveries, the audacity of their adventures, the width of their genius—they (these women) were constantly belittled, forgotten, in some cases almost erased from history. It is important that girls understand the obstacles that lie in front of them…That not only can they find a way to overcome them, but that they can remove those obstacles for those who will come after them, just like these great women did.’ Also Read - Drink lassi for good health: Radha Bhatia's book

Moral of the story? No matter where you come from, what your age, colour or shape is and what difficulties you face, no dream is unattainable. Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls is a book that will help young girls ‘aim higher, dream bigger and fight harder.’
