Glow, a data science company geared towards women's reproductive health and education, this week launched its new app, Glow Nurture. The company's first app, Glow, dedicated to fertility tracking and helping women conceive or avoid pregnancy, is said to have aided more than 20,000 users in just one year and was among the 2014 Webby Award winners.The updated version retains this feature, and users of the fertility app can transition their data into Glow Nurture.(Read: Tips to track the days you are ovulating or are at your most 'fertile')
The new app provides a platform on which moms to be can log photos of their swelling bellies as well as symptoms and other data which can simplify doctor's appointments. Other new features include social networking to put moms-to-be in touch with each other and a partner support system to integrate significant others, friends and family members. Coming soon is an aspect to guide new moms through the first nine months of newborn care. (Read: What to eat when expecting 5 healthy recipes for pregnant women)
Since the old version, Glow's work starts in helping hopefuls get pregnant by tracking possible ovulation and alerting them as to when it's a good time to purchase ovulation tests. Similar apps include Baby Center, available for Android and iOS, which includes a 'growth widget' that portrays diagrams of what the fetus looks like. Apps specific to fertility tracking include the popular Fertility Friend, available on iOS and Android and as a website. Glow Nurture is free in the App Store.
