Former United States (US) Vice President Dick Cheney breathed his last on Tuesday. He was 84. Cheney was a central figure in the 2003 invasion of Iraq by the US and allied forces.
Speaking to the media, Cheney's family said on Tuesday that he died from complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease.
"For decades, Dick Cheney served our nation, including as White House Chief of Staff, Wyoming's Congressman, Secretary of Defense, and vice-president of the United States . . . We are grateful beyond measure for all Dick Cheney did for our country," the statement said.
