Former US President Joe Biden Diagnosed With Aggressive Prostate Cancer That Has Spread To Legs: What Is Stage-4 Cancer?
Joe Biden Cancer News: Former US President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive type of prostate cancer, according to a statement from his office. Last week, Biden was admitted to a hospital in Philadelphia, where doctors identified a "small nodule" on his prostate that needed additional evaluation.
As per reports, Biden, 82, underwent several tests earlier this week after experiencing urinary symptoms. The medical reports presented on Friday confirmed that he is suffering from an aggressive form of cancer, also called stage-4 Prostate Cancer.
Talking about the treatment procedure, his official statement also added, "While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management."

Prostate cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the prostate gland, a small walnut-shaped gland in men that produces seminal fluid the fluid that nourishes and transports sperm. It is one of the most common cancers in men, especially over the age of 50.
Cancers that have spread, or metastasised, are considered Stage 4, the most advanced. Most prostate cancers are detected at an earlier stage. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, of the 236,659 cases of prostate cancer diagnosed in 2021, 70% were diagnosed before the cancer had spread beyond the prostate. About 8% of new prostate cancer diagnoses that year involved advanced-stage disease.
As mentioned in Biden's health report, the former US President is suffering from an 'aggressive' form of cancer, which in medical terms mean stage-4. As per experts, at this point the patient may experience some serious symptoms apart from urinary issues.
According to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO), Prostate cancer usually first causes symptoms by simply reducing the flow of urine, which leads to poor stream size, dribbling and the need to pass urine several times during the night.
"There may also be blood in the urine. Of course, benign prostate enlargement is very common and causes the same symptoms. The only ways to distinguish one from the other are by a biopsy and by PSA," it added.
President Trump, who has repeatedly berated Biden since taking office in January, expressed sympathy on Sunday for Biden and his wife, Jill, in a post on his social media platform Truth Social.
"Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden's recent medical diagnosis," he wrote, referring to first lady Melania Trump. "We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery."
Biden's office said the cancer scored a nine out of 10 on the Gleason score grading system, which is used to help determine the aggressiveness of prostate cancer.
