Former Uttar Pradesh chief and Rajasthan governor Kalyan Singh, who was admitted at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), passed away after being placed on dialysis. The 89-year-old BJP veteran was admitted to the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on July 4 to an infection and reduced consciousness level.
Kalyan Singh was in critical condition for the past few days and died due to sepsis and multi-organ failure, according to media reports. He was being treated at the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences at the time. Former Singh, who was taken to SGPGI in "critical" condition, was met by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. According to the report, Adityanath visited the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in the morning and inquired about the veteran leader's health. In a statement, the hospital stated, "Kalyan Singh's health status is critical and is on a life-saving support system."
According to reports, his condition deteriorated on Friday, following which he was placed on dialysis. After this, the former governor of Rajasthan died on Saturday in Lucknow due to sepsis and multi-organ failure.
