Obesity, known to be a lifestyle disease, was always in the headlines either for its severe health complications or its increasing trend. But this time an exercise-hormone -- irisin -- that was claimed to be the next obesity drug took the limelight. Although scientists claim that the hormone exists, these is still no clarity about the much debated hormone. While scientists are busy working on this hormone, here are few obesity drugs that have been known to fight obesity you should be aware of. Before we discus about them, you must know that exercise and diet play a key role in maintaining your weight. Also, being physically active lowers your risk of suffering from various health complications cause due to obesity.

#1:The research published in the journal Biomacromolecules showed that the researchers have developed a new class of compounds that help you to reduce weight by preventing the absorption of the fat particles (known as micelles) by the intestine.

#2: According to a study published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, a special protein -- FFA4 -- helps in dealing with obesity by stimulating the production of appetite controlling hormones and hormones that control in the intestinal uptake of food. #3: A study done by the researchers from University of Aberdeen and published in the journal Endocrinology has revealed that that anti-obesity drugs targetting the brain cells that produce a hormone, pro- opiomelanocortin (POMC) peptides -- controls the appetite -- should be made. Because, obesity drugs tend to become less effective in controlling the brain mechanism over time.

#4:Beliviq, a weight loss drug that has been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) is available in the market. Studies has proved that the drug was found effective in non-diabetic as compared to diabetics. People taking this drug lost 3.7 percent of their body weight over the year.
