According to the claims made by the researchers, your finger length can explain your sexuality. Reportedly, those with a big difference between their ring finger and index finger are more likely to be gay. And women whose ring fingers are longer than their index digits are more likely to be lesbian, claims the study. These claims made by the researchers from the Psychology department of Essex University are completely shocking!
In the journal Archives of Sexual Behaviour, the study results were published. Fingers of 18 pairs of female identical twins, where one was straight and the other gay were measured by the scientists.
Reportedly, you will be stunned to know that on average, the lesbians, but not the straight twins, had a different sized index and ring fingers ( a male trait) but it was only on the left hand. According to the University of Essex researchers, this can be due to the exposure to more testosterone in the womb. Moreover, the scientists also measured the fingers of 14 pairs of male identical twins (one was straight and the other gay) but no link was found.
Reportedly, according to the scientists, both men and women were exposed to the 'male' hormone which is testosterone- while in the womb. But, some may have been exposed more than others.
According to study author, Dr Tuesday Watts, from the psychology department at Essex University, as, identical twins, who tend to share 100% of their genes, their sexual orientations can differ, factors apart from genetics must account for the differences.
Reportedly, the research says that our sexuality is determined in the womb and is dependent on how much amount of male hormone we are exposed to or the way our bodies react to that male hormone. Hence, those who are exposed to higher levels of testosterone can be bisexual or homosexual.
Reportedly, looking at someone's hands could provide a clue to their sexuality due to the connection between hormone levels and a difference in finger lengths.
