According to BBC, malaria patients in Guinea were either too scared to seek help or clinics were closed amid the Ebola crisis. An estimated number of 74,000 malaria cases went untreated in 2014. Experts also warned that the malaria cases will exceed the number of Ebola deaths in Guinea.

At present, the number of malaria cases in Guinea stands at 2,444. Dr Franco Pagnoni, from the World Health Organisation's Global Malaria Programme, said that untreated malaria cases had placed an added burden on an already overburdened health system in the Ebola-affected countries.
