Manchester United striker and Dutch maestro Robin Van Persie has been deemed fit for Holland s World Cup semi-final against Argentina who will be missing Angel Di Maria and Sergio Aguero through injury. Earlier it looked like the Dutch maestro would miss the match with a stomach ailment.
The Manchester United striker trained separately from his teammates after complaining of a stomach problem. The Netherlands will really miss their charismatic captain who has been instrumental in their run to the last four of the tournament and started the party with one crazy flying header which saw the Netherlands thrash defending champions Spain 5-1.
Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal confirmed that Van Persie, who has scored three goals so far, was a serious doubt for the last-four clash but then again, he might just have been playing mind games. He has a stomach problem, an intestinal problem. I don t know (if he will play), Van Gaal told a press conference. I will decide (on Wednesday). Van Persie is our captain so he is very important to us. In principle my captain always plays, but he has to be fit.
The winner of this match will face Germany in the final of the FIFA World Cup 2014 who are through after thrashing a Neymar-less Brazil 7-1.
