Fake Medicine Racket In Maharashtra: Talcum Powder Mixed Fake Antibiotics Supplied To Government Hospitals
Government hospitals in Maharashtra reported receiving fake antibiotic medicines containing talcum powder and starch. A a charge sheet has been filed in a court in Nagpur this week shortly after which this information was revealed. The drug racket was busted few months ago and according to reports, the racket ran in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand.
Reports further state that these antibiotics were manufactured in a veterinary medicine laboratory in Haridwar. This investigation was carried out by the Nagpur Rural Police and the Food and Drug Administration.
The inter-state gang has been accused of being involved in the supply of fake medicines since the year 2021. This was also when the COVID-19 pandemic was going on. Among the list of fake medications th3ey were supplying, it also includes very commonly prescribed medicines like Ciprofloxacin, Livofloxacin, Amoxicillin, Cefixime, and Azithromycin, under the names of defunct firms.
The fake medicines were also being supplied to the cities Nagpur, Wardha, Thane, Latur and Nanded. The investigation on this is underway and further revelations may also be out soon.
