Mathura, Jan 5: On the back drop of a number of cases of botched up eye operations surfacing, a new case has taken the spotlight. An eye camp organised by the NGO Banke Bihari Sewa Sansthan on December 30 proved to be disastrous for a dozen of people who underwent cataract surgery. When the victims went to register a complaint on January 3 rd to seek corrective operations, the office of the organisation was closed. (Read: Free cataract surgeries cost 5 patients their eyesight)
A kin of a victim said that he took his father to S.N. Medical college on Sunday for a further check up and was told that the operations were done in a casual manner and expired drugs and eye drops were used. Chief Medical Officer Dr B.S. Yadav said: Such eye camps cannot be held without permission from the government. We are initiating action against the organization , as reported by Mail Online India.
