Encephalitis Like 'Mysterious Fever' Kills 3 Children In Bihar's Raniganj Village
According to reports from local officials, a 'mysterious fever' has lead to the death of three children in a village in Bihar's Araria district in the last three days. The cases were reported from Raniganj village and the deceased have been identified as Raunak Kumar (4), Ankush Kumar (2 months old), and Gauri Kumar (7). Raunak succumbed to the illness on Saturday, while Ankush and Gauri died on Sunday and Monday, as per reports.
According to the family members of the deceased, they said that the symptoms that they faced were like Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and that they also allege that the cause of death could be due to this disease.
Acute Encephalitis syndrome is known locally as "Chamki Bukhar" or brain fever. As per reports from the district administration the exact cause4 of death of the three deceased children have not been confirmed yet. "A team of medical experts has been sent to the village to analyze the situation and identify others suffering from similar symptoms," said Inayat Khan, the District Magistrate (DM) of Araria to the media.
According to the DM, the deceased children who were infected with this mysterious fever reportedly exhibited symptoms such as cough, cold, and pneumonia-like conditions. "We are closely monitoring the situation. The civil surgeon of Araria district is overseeing the response," the DM added in his statement to the media.
