Ebola in India: How Indian officials plan to tackle this epidemic

Officials of the senior health ministry have decided to conduct surprise checks at various ports, airports, labs and hospitals across India to analyse the preparedness for dealing with Ebola virus. Officials met union health secretary to have a dialogue on the current situation and to take adequate measures for strengthening surveillance.

Not just this, government also has plans to conduct mock drills a these places and has urged state health departments to keep a strong vigil for any suspected care. They also have to monitor and keep a tab of the facilities and identify gaps in the screening process which can be fixed at the earliest.

At various hospitals, a few senior doctors and para medics are to be trained to make sure they can handle the situation in case of an outbreak. Though India has not really had an Ebola case, the closest was of an Indian man who flew from Liberia after getting cured of Ebola. He is still kept in an isolation facility in Delhi.
