We are nearing the end of the year 2014, the moment to find out who will win the TIME 'The Person of the Year' poll. Since the year 1927, the TIME's poll chooses a person who in the past year has had huge influence on people's lives and the news in general. Although, the winner is chosen by the editors, readers too can cast their vote for the person they believe was the most proactive to lead global news.
Two days before the voting closes, the poll results clearly shows PM Narendra Modi in the lead, with a total of 13.3% votes. What's even more interesting is that people around the world have voted for Ebola health workers who chose to serve Ebola infected patients in West African countries, placing them in the top 5 contenders of the poll. With a current 4.5 % votes, Ebola doctors and nurses represent those hundreds of healthcare givers who left their loved ones behind and served the epidemic stricken countries in West Africa, despite knowing the consequences of the deadly infection. The ones who lost their battle to the disease while serving the infected and those who are still struggling continue to influence not just global news but the minds and lives of people around the world.
