Donald Trump health news: When Donald Trump became the oldest person to ever be elected as the US president for a second term, there was a lot of interest around his health, and whether he is fit to lead the country. His predecessor Joe Biden was 78 years and 61 days at the time of inauguration, and Trump was 78 years and 220 days when he took oath earlier this year. There have been concerns about his health and well-being lately, especially after an assassination attempt last year, but news from the White House is that the current US president is doing very well, health-wise. The reports of Trump's first physical exam of his second presidential term were released recently, and according to it, the president is in "excellent cognitive and physical health", his White House physician revealed.

According to news reports, Trump travelled to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center on Friday, April 11. He spent the entire afternoon there, getting evaluated. On Sunday, April 13, White House physician Sean Barbabella released the health results. In a memo, Dr Barbabella -- a US Navy physician who served in Afghanistan and Iraq -- stated: "President Trump remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function."

During the five-hour medical examination at the Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, Trump underwent a cardiac examination, blood tests, and ultrasounds, said his doctor.

"President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State," Dr Barbabella wrote in his statement that was released by the White House on Sunday.

Trump also underwent neurological tests to assess his mental health, and whether his nerves, motor and sensory function, and reflexes are working fine. He reportedly showed no signs of depression or anxiety, the memo stated. Trump scored 30 out of 30 in his Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) test that is reportedly used to detect early signs of dementia and cognitive decline. The test involves repeating words, naming animals, drawing a clock, etc.

Later, while speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One on Saturday, the US president said, "Overall, I felt I was in very good shape. A good heart, a good soul...a very good soul."

Although, he did reveal that doctors had recommended he changed certain lifestyle habits to improve his health and overall well-being. According to reports, Dr Barbabella did say that Donald Trump had "minor sun damage" on his skin, and a few "benign skin lesions".

According to news reports, Trump has to rely on medication to control his cholesterol; these include Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe, along with aspirin. He also needs a medicated cream for a skin condition, per the memo. His cardiac examination, otherwise, is good with signs of "no abnormalities", according to his physician.

The president's health examination also included his medical history of "well-controlled hypercholesterolemia" -- high cholesterol in the blood, which can increase a person's risk of a heart attack.
