Starting early 2025, after US President Donald Trump was seen in public with persistent hand bruises and swollen ankles, concerns have been mounting about POTUS' health. Amid health speculation, what raises more concern about Donald Trump was his recent disappearance from public view, which caused certain phrases to trend on X (previously Twitter).
The internet was taken over by phrases such as "Is Trump Dead" and "Trump Is Dead". But what added fuel to the speculation was when Vice President JD Vance made a remark in an interaction about the US President's health.
"He's the last person making phone calls at night, and he's the first person who wakes up and the first person making phone calls in the morning. Yes, terrible tragedies happen. But I feel very confident the president of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people," Vance said during the interaction. "And if, God forbid, there's a terrible tragedy, I can't think of better on-the-job training than what I've gotten over the last 200 days."
Adding to the viral Trump trend on X, one internet user wrote, One internet user wrote, "President Trump hasn't been seen in public since Tuesday and has no events scheduled all weekend. There are rumours saying he's dead. I think he just has a big golf tournament to play."
Another remarked, "I'm not saying Trump is dead. I'm just saying he hasn't been seen in 3 days, has no public appearances scheduled for the next 3 days, has had swollen ankles, trouble walking, bruises on his hand with vein issues, and his VP said yesterday he's ready to step in."

On July 17, 2025, Karoline Leavitt, Press Secretary of the White House, addressed reporters in the James Brady Press Briefing Room at the White House about the cause of Donald Trump's bruised hands and swollen ankle.
Leavitt told the media that the White House medical unit showed that Trump has 'chronic venous insufficiency', which occurs when the small valves inside the veins that normally help move blood against gravity gradually lose the ability to work properly.
Cleveland Clinic states, "Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) can’t be cured. But you can manage the condition with lifestyle changes and other treatments your provider recommends."
"Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is a condition in which the flow of superficial or deep venous blood is impaired, causing venous hypertension," the National Institute of Health (NIH) states. A person with CVI may often experience swelling and skin changes.
