As reports suggest, US President Donald Trump has been suffering from 'chronic venous insufficiency' after leg swelling. Let's take a quick look at what this condition is.
The press secretary of the White House, Karoline Leavitt, declared as she cited the letter from Trump's doctor, while telling the reporters that the President of the United States has been diagnosed with "chronic venous insufficiency."
She clarifies that it is a condition where the damaged leg veins are known to fail in maintaining proper blood flow.
It has been known that this condition is extremely common among older individuals, especially those who are particularly above the age of 70.
The Cleveland Clinic, while giving insight into this disease called chronic venous insufficiency or CVI, writes that it is a form of venous disease that is known to occur when the veins in a person's legs are damaged.
The reaction to the damage is that the veins fail to manage the proper blood flow, which makes it harder for the blood to return to the person's heart from their legs.
"CVI causes blood to pool in your leg veins, leading to high pressure in those veins," the Clinic stated. This condition happens when there is damage to any of a person's leg veins.
The condition at first is most likely to show up with some mild symptoms, but these symptoms might cause
an interference with the individual's quality of life and that can lead to some of serious consequences that require medical attention and right treatment which can include several lifestyle changes, compression therapy, certain medications to ease out the condition, and at times, in some severe cases, a slight invasive procedure or a surgery is recommended by the doctors.
