Wayne Rooney sparked botox rumors after he appeared for a post-match interview with suspiciously smooth forehead. The footie ace has mysteriously lost all the wrinkles from his forehead, the Mirror reported. Plastic surgeons believe that the Manchester United forward striker may have undergone a course of Botox injections to get rid of the lines that were so prominent just weeks before his team's 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.
What is BOTOX?
Botulinum toxin or BOTOX is used in cosmetic and medical procedures. It's commonly known to get rid signs of ageing like wrinkles and lines and has been popularised by celebrities. It is injected into the desired problem area after applying an anaesthetic cream on it. The result is a wrinkle-free face which lasts between three to six months. After that, the procedure needs to be repeated or they become visible again. Extreme use of BOTOX may paralyse the facial muscles restricting their movement.
What many people may not know is that Botox is botulinum toxin which is purified and sterile and is safe to use. Patients who have a broad lower face can narrow it with the use of Botox. Dermatological conditions like hyperhidrosis (i.e. excessive sweating), bromhidrosis (fowl-smelling sweat) and open pores can be treated using botox. Even migraines are cured using botox.
It functions as a purified protein, which, once injected into the detrusor muscle, blocks the overactive nerve impulses that trigger excessive muscle contractions in the bladder. It is pertinent to mention here that the effect of Botox in such cases lasts upto 10 months. The injection is at the place of the problem, hence it doesn't affect any other part of the body, and is a non-invasive procedure that doesn't take more than 15 minutes. Many fear that the treatment will make them look unnatural and that the skin will lose its sensitivity. That only happens when wrong quantities of Botox are used. Hence, using the right amount is the key to looking beautiful.
