Dengue is a disease spread by mosquitoes. A condition that is spreading quickly and has many people suffering in the country. Immediate diagnosis and treatment is essential to prevent this condition and its possible complications. Here are the 11 symptoms of dengue you should look out for.
Delhi: At least 13 cases of dengue have been confirmed in the city during last week, taking the total number of such cases to over sixty, an official said. The number of suspected cases is in several hundreds.
With the number of suspected cases on the rise, at least 13 cases have been confirmed during last week in Gurgaon. The total number of cases in the city is over 60 and the suspected cases are over 100. Dengue usually spreads during the month of August and September but this year it is spreading in November as there was less rain during the monsoon season and the maximum temperature remained above the normal, a senior doctor at a multi-speciality private hospital said. November is an unusual time for the disease to spread.
Pushpa Bishnoi, Gurgaon civil surgeon, confirmed that the number of dengue patients was increasing but added that it was much less than in comparison to the last two years. She also said that the even though the civil hospitals are prepared and well equipped to tackle the disease and a separate ward has also been set up. The number of dengue patients in new Gurgaon area (HUDA sectors and areas developed by private builders) is much more as compared to the old city. A doctor at the hospital also said that the health department officials sometimes remain negligent about the diseases as they assume that smoke from the Diwali firecrackers will kill the mosquitoes. But with the increasing awareness about a smoke less Diwali, the mosquitoes bred easily. As a result, high-tech larva checking system (method to control mosquito breeding), did not show the desired results, he said. There were 375 patients of dengue in the district during 2013 and 469 during 2012. Three people died due to dengue last year.
