Dengue has been wrecking havoc in the capital for a few months now. According to the latest reports, over 2000 positive cases have been reported till now with around 20 casualties. However, these figures seem to be a little spurious taking into consideration the reports from other private hospitals. The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has confirmed 17 deaths so far whereas a private hospital in the Capital has confirmed 21 deaths alone with a dozen of patients belonging to the national capital. The discrepancies in data were discussed on Tuesday at a high-level meet held at the Health Ministry. A senior official informed all the government and private hospitals have been asked to report the cases and deaths but, reporting from private hospitals has been irregular and sluggish. According to a municipal report, the past week recorded over 1900 dengue cases and 12 deaths. The total number of positive cases have reached 3791.
