Delhi Weather Updates: The national capital is currently grappling with a severe heatwave, as the city and nearby regions continue to reel under intense weather conditions with temperatures hovering around 42 43 C. In its latest weather bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), has warned that there are no signs of any significant change in minimum and maximum temperatures expected. "Heatwave conditions prevailed in key locations, including Lodi Road and Ridge on the first day of the forecast period."
Amidst the ongoing hot weather conditions, the IMD has predicted a rise in maximum temperatures in the national capital by about 2 C during the next 2 days. "No respite from heatwave for 5 days now, and no immediate signs of rainfall.
According to the Met Department, there will be a partly cloudy sky in Delhi today with occasional sustained surface winds, blowing at a speed of 10 to 20 Km/h and later gusting up to 30 Km/h. Additionally, IMD has issued a yellow alert for a heat wave in the city today. Similar weather conditions will be witnessed on April 27, 2025, with maximum temperatures reaching up to 42 degrees Celsius. Residents can expect no heat wave conditions over Delhi till May 1, 2025.
As per the latest forecast by the IMD, there is no immediate sign of rainfall or relief from the scorching weather. Dry northwesterly winds and clear skies are contributing to the build-up of heat across Delhi and adjoining regions. The next 48 hours are critical, as temperatures are projected to climb further, possibly crossing the 44 45 C mark.
The IMD has also asked the residents to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours and to remain well-hydrated. Here are a few things that you need to follow to stay safe right now:
Commuters, outdoor workers, and schoolchildren are particularly at risk and have been urged to take necessary precautions.
While the city braces for worsening conditions, residents are anxiously waiting for signs of a weather change possibly in the form of pre-monsoon showers or western disturbances. However, as of now, the forecast remains dry.
With the mercury continuing to rise, Delhiites are advised to stay updated with official IMD alerts and take all possible measures to protect themselves from the extreme heat.
