The sun is doing its bit and seems to be getting stronger by the day. Delhi has reached a scorching temperature of 47 degrees Celsius.The Delhi government on Thursday directed all city hospitals not to deny admission to people suffering from heat stroke. The health department has issued an advisory to all the hospitals in the city not to turn away people suffering from heat stroke, a city government official said.
Besides, it asked them to attend to such patients on an emergency basis. The searing heat wave has killed over 1,400 people across the country. In Delhi, two deaths have been reported so far. The health department also appealed to Delhi Police as well the public to make homeless people they see on roads aware about the dangers of exposing themselves to high day-time temperatures.
The health department has directed all directors and medical superintendents of government owned/funded, private hospitals and nursing homes to ensure necessary arrangements in their emergency departments in the form of cooled areas, manpower, medicines and IV fluids, ice packs, said an official statement.
