Delhi Air Pollution: GRAP 3 Measures To Be Imposed From Nov 15; What Are The Restrictions?
The commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) announced today that the Graded Response Action Plan or GRAP 3 will be imposed in Delhi NCR from November 15, 8am. This announcement comes amidst rising pollution levels and worsening AQI in the national capital and its adjoining regions like Noida and Gurugram. GRAP 2 measures were already in place to control pollution levels.
Earlier this week, the Delhi Government had stated that GRAP 3 measures will be implemented if pollution levels plummet even further. The Environment Minister had also said that according to IMD, air quality might improve from tomorrow onwards. But, as Delhi NCR enters the second day with severe AQI of 428, the government sought it a requirement to impose GRAP 3 from tomorrow morning.
GRAP 3 is ideally imposed in regions when the air quality turns 'severe.' It is implemented to control and tackle the deteriorating air quality in national capital, Delhi rand NCR. The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the region as of 9am today was 428.
