Maharashtra s education minister Vinod Tawde has already declared a holiday for schools and colleges as a precautionary measure for Mumbai rains caused due to cyclone Ockhi. And in the meanwhile, if you are planning to get ready for office or are thinking to visit Mumbai or Maharashtra today, then be extra cautious as the weather forecast is against the travel. According to the India Meteorological Department cyclonic storm OCKHI is very likely to move north-northeastwards, weaken gradually and cross south Gujarat and adjoining north Maharashtra coasts near Surat as a deep depression by midnight of 5th December 2017. In association with the very severe Cyclonic Storm OCKHI, parts of Maharashtra are very likely to experience a wet spell during next 3 days. The day wise forecast and warnings for the state are as follows:
Day 1: 8.30 hrs of 04/12/2017 to 8.30 of 05/12/2017
There will be light to moderate rain/thundershowers very likely at a few places in the districts of North Konkan; at isolated places in the districts of South Konkan- Goa and North Madhya Maharashtra; Dry weather very likely in the districts of South Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada & Vidarbha
Day 2: 8.30 hrs of 05/12/2017 to 8.30 hrs of 06/12/2017
Light to moderate rain/thundershowers very likely at most places in the districts of North Konkan ; at many places in districts of South Konkan- Goa & North Madhya Maharashtra; at isolated places in the districts of South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. Dry weather very likely in the districts of Vidarbha. Here are tips to stay safe indoors during heavy rains and thunder and lightning.
Day 3: 8.30 hrs of 06/12/2017 to 8.30 hrs of 07/12/2017)
Light to moderate rain/thundershowers very likely at isolated places in the districts of Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha.

So if it's not urgent or needed, it is wise to stay indoors and then decide once the rains stop pouring. Stay safe and healthy.
