COVID-19 Summer Surge Returns: These U.S. States Are Reporting the Sharpest Spikes in Cases
The COVID-19 pandemic posed one of the greatest adversities that human civilisation had ever seen, as it remains one of the toughest of times that drained the people mentally and economically.
While many lost their lives in the face of the deadly pandemic, there are ones who survived too, but continue to face the apprehensions of the aftermath of the pandemic.
The human body is highly adaptable; at some point, it showed little to no scope of fighting the virus, but it is now more prepared than ever. The medications and vaccinations that have been made available have also been helpful. Despite the body's advanced adaptability and medical advancements, being hit by the virus is still a taxing burden that takes the lives of many.
As per the estimates calculated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it has been noted that 25 states of the United Stated are seeing a an unexpected upticks in the number of COVID cases the winters are already fading away and the the summer waves are visibly appearing to be making their way to the front, reported CBS News.

wastewater data. What makes this issue seemingly alarming is that there still has been a rise from the past week, as it has not gone down, but only upgraded from"very low", which is from the previous week.
The regions that are facing the worst facade of the virus are the ones that are seeing the maximum number of increases in emergency rooms for COVID, and that has happened in regions like the Pacific Northwest and the Southeast, specifically.
While the former has been seeing a noticeable rise in ER visits since June, the latter has just now started to
gradually marking a rise, since the last few weeks.
Taking into account the different variants that have begun to spread across several states in the United States. Health officials have now been expecting a significant rise in the cases of COVID-19 this summer.
COVID-19 cases are growing in these states.
One of the latest analyses undertaken by the CDC has noted that COVID seems to be following a trend of appearing twice a year.It has been observed that some cases pick up at least once in the summer, that is, the period between July through September, and then the other cycle goes in the winter season, that is, the period between December through February.
"Our analysis revealed biannual COVID-19 peaks in late summer and winter, a pattern that is expected to persist as long as the rapid evolution of SARS-CoV-2 and cyclical S1 diversity continues," CDC scientists explained.
SI diversity is studied to be evolving, and the ongoing variations in a key part of the virus's spike protein, which is what supports the virus in binding to human cells.
The mutation in the virus is known to help it evade human immunity. As of now, the latest COVID variants that have been spreading in the US include Nimbus and Stratus.
Despite the fact that they are new and latent, what gives relief is that they are considered to be "no more deadly" than ones that were previously circulating variants, as per the CBS News chief medical correspondent, Dr Jon LaPook.
The symptoms of the virus are also known to be similar to those that were circulating earlier are identical to them in terms of respiratory problems, which include problems such as cough and sore throat and even systemic issues like fever and fatigue or lethargy.
The centre has also made fresh warnings about another virus that has been spreading more rapidly and has been detected on the radar recently, which is the Parvovirus B19. It has been observed that the people who ended up getting infected from the virus didn't show signs of any extreme illness but only experienced flu-like symptoms such as fever, muscle aches and a rash.
Chicago has been one of the worst-hit regions, in particular, as it has seen an uptick in patients who have been visiting the ER because of this virus."Several of the most recent weeks saw the highest percentage of B19-associated ED visits compared to the same week in all years since 2015," health authorities said.
The people who are at the risk of of being infected are the ones who fall on the vulnerable category like pregnant women who are at a risk of experiencing some complications from the virus and the ones who have a history of dealing with a chronic disease, people who fall in such categories are advised to be extra cautious and take extra precautions.
