COVID-19 Live Updates: Cases rise in Maharastra, Kerala as Karnataka allows theatres, colleges to open

India on Sunday recorded 41,157 fresh cases of COVID-19. This takes the country's cumulative tally to 31,106,065, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. In the last 24 hours, the India reported 518 deaths due to the disease. This takes the total death toll to 413,609. New cases have shown an increase in Maharashtra and Kerala. Meanwhile, the Haryana government on Sunday extended its covid-19 lockdown by a week, it will now stay in effect till 5 am on July 26.

The global Covid-19 caseload has now gone over 189.9 million, and deaths from the disease have surged to more than 4.08 million. At the same time, more than 3.59 billion people have been vaccinated till date, according to the Johns Hopkins University. The US continues to be the worst-hit country in terms of both the world's highest number of cases and deaths. In terms of infections, India follows in the second place with 31,064,908 cases whereas Brazil occupies second place in terms of death with 541,266 fatalities.
