Amidst the rising COVID tension, caused by the latent COVID variants, namely the NB.1.8.1 and LF.7, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday said COVID-19 patients are hospitalised in Delhi, but there is no need to worry.

While informing the reporters about the preparation of the National Capital in combating the rising COVID situation, she assured that the Delhi government is well prepared and alert. The hospitals are ready too. Nineteen patients are admitted to hospitals, and the rest are being treated at home. But COVID-19 hasn't reached a worrying level. The government is ready for any situation," the chief minister added as she informed the reporters at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital.

The CM also advised and reminded people to be vigilant and follow all the requirements, precautions and all health protocols.

According to the official data, Delhi had 104 active COVID-19 cases as of 2Gth May 2024 i.e., Monday. Health officials have further confirmed that 24 patients have recovered in the past week.

In the previous week, the government of the National Capital Delhi issued an advisory to hospitals, telling them to ensure the availability of basic medical supplies like beds, medicines and oxygen.

What Is The New Variant?

The Indian states have observed a surge in cases that is driven by the newly detected sub-variants, which are NB.1.8.1 and LF.7. These variants are mutated and genetically changed from the previous variants.
