You may often blame external factors such as stress, pollution and dandruff for hair fall but a poor diet is one of the major causes of this issue. Most men and women are moving towards baldness as early as in their 20s, and experts believe that it is diet that can keep hair fall under control. Sanket Shah, CEO and managing director, Advanced Hair Studio (India) said that in 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s, their clients were aged between 40 and 60. But now, about 85 percent men and women are aged between 20 and 40.
Advanced Hair Studio have devised a procedure called Advanced Hair Studio Fitness Programme, that is a treatment to control hair loss and save existing hair. As diet plays a major role in the health of hair, the organisation and nutritionist Lovneet Batra joined hands to bring forth the discussion on 'Healthy eating, healthy hair'. Batra believes what you eat reflects on your hair and skin. According to her, food can be the best medicine for healthy hair and skin. There might be various reasons for hair loss but nutritional deficiency is one of them, and it needs to be addressed. Here is what you should eat to prevent hair loss.
You may prefer sugar-free and fat-free food items to avoid weight gain but they are essential for your body. According to Batra, food items like fish and walnut oil are important. Though olive oil is widely used, it shouldn't be heated and should only be used for dressing. Ghee and mustard oil gel with Indian delicacies. The nutritionist also stressed the importance of a proper balance of carbohydrates, protein and micronutrients and the amounts in which they should be consumed. According to her, women shouldn't consume more than 55 grams of protein and men should stick to 65 grams. If you consume this nutrient in excess, it will stress out your kidney and liver. Similarly, excess intake of sugar can lead to dandruff.
Batra also suggests reading the label before purchasing any product. Sometimes, marketing of food can be misleading. Using kitchen ingredients to make hair packs is useful, but consuming it is as important. According to the expert, applying coconut oil is good, but drinking coconut water is as necessary. Coconut water is a rich source of potassium that is beneficial for healthy skin.
In conclusion, instead of relying on just serums and shampoos, make sure that you are getting adequate nutrients from your food to make your mane stronger.
