Kerala continues to lead the country in daily Covid instances, with 18,531 people testing positive in the state after 1,55,568 samples were tested in the previous 24 hours, according to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's statement. A total of 98 people succumbed to Covid-19 in the state, taking the total death toll to 15,969. However, the test positivity rate dropped to 11.91 per cent on Saturday as compared to 13 per cent on Friday. Kerala accounted for 45 per cent of all cases in the country, according to Covid data released on Friday.
Meanwhile, India recorded 39,097 new cases of Covid and 546 deaths on Saturday. There are currently 4,08,977 active cases in the country, with a total of 4,20,016 deaths. A total of 42,78,82,261 Covid vaccine doses had been delivered, including 42,67,799 in the last 24 hours, according to data from the health ministry.
