Amid rising concerns about a possible third wave in India which can peak in the month of October or November, Uttarakhand has registered its first case of the deadlyAY.12 mutation of COVID-19's Delta variant. According to the reports, the first case has been reported from Kotdwar area of Pauri Garhwal district. Following this state's health department has issued new guidelines for the common people. The highly contagious Delta COVID-19 variant which was first found in India was the possible strain behind the ferocious second wave of coronavirus in the country.

Meanwhile, experts have also claimed that India may see another COVID-19 wave peaking between October and November in case more virulent mutants than the existing ones emerge by September. However, the experts also added that the intensity of the expected third wave of COVID-19 will be much lower than the second wave.
