With Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu experiencing a sudden surge in the daily numbers of COVID-19 cases. According to the experts, this can be the onset of the third wave in India which has already battled the worst in the second wave of coronavirus earlier this year. Speaking to the media, the government has asserted that the situation is still under control and necessary measures have been taken in areas witnessing a spike in cases. "We are yet to confirm whether is a new wave or an extended second wave of coronavirus," officials were quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, with a single-day rise of 41,649 new cases, India's COVID-19 tally climbed to 3,16,13,993 on Saturday, while the death toll due to the viral disease shot up to 4,23,810 with 593 more people succumbing to it. Get all the live updates here.
