Mumbai, June 12 (IANS) The medical reports related to actress Jiah Khan's abortion have been received from a hospital were the procedure was conducted, police said here Wednesday.

‘There have been no new developments so far. We have received the medical reports from the hospital where the foetus was aborted,’ a police officer told IANS. Also Read - 5 young Indian female celebrities who committed suicide

A lawyer of arrested suspect Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi, said they will be able to give out more information later. ‘We will be able to give out more information tomorrow,’ said Zameer Khan, who appeared for Sooraj in a city court. Sooraj was arrested June 10 for allegedly abetting the suicide of Jiah Khan. He will be questioned in police custody till June 13. Jiah mentioned about her abortion in her six-page letter, which was handed to police by her mother, police said. Police sought the report on the abortion to corroborate the information in Jiah’s letter.

Sooraj’s arrest came barely two days after Jiah’s family handed over to police the note penned by her. It was recovered by the actress’s kin three days after her suicide on June 3.

Jiah Khan also known as Nafisa committed suicide at her Juhu residence last Monday. According to reports, she hung herself at around 11 PM but didn’t leave any suicide notes. The 25-year-old had worked with Amitabh Bachchan in Ram Gopal Varma’s Nishabd which was inspired by the Hollywood film American Beauty. Born and raised in London, the actress had shifted to India to pursue a career in acting and had appeared in Aamir Khan’s Ghajni and Akshay Kumar’s Housefull. Earlier it had appeared that her stagnant film career had driven her to commit suicide but later her mother released a six-page note which blamed her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi for abusing her.
