How often do we complain that our netas are corrupt, hardly work for the society, promote nepotism and make truckloads of money sitting at home? It comes as good news then, that Congress MP Rasheed 'I-can-have-a-meal-for-Rs-5' Masood has been found guilty by a special CBI court for nominating undeserving candidates, for MBBS seats allotted to Tripura.

'I have been an MP for the last 30 years and I am a law-abiding citizen. Considering the nature of the case, my age and clean antecedents, I should be given the benefit of probation,', Masood told Special CBI judge JPS Malik.

However, he was opposed by CBI prosecutor VN OJha who refuted his claim for probation. Rasheed Masood does not deserve anything less than seven years (in jail) and a hefty fine should be imposed because by nominating undeserving candidates including his own nephew, he had spoiled the career of meritorious students , Ojha said.

Masood also made a plea for leniency stating he had heart disease, diabetes and cannot do stressful activities. (Also read: Indian american physician convicted for healthcare fraud)
