As the spread of the virus continues to affect major districts in China, some of the significant areas have been taking precautionary measures. It has been noted that, taking into account the unprecedented spread of this virus, some alerts have been issued in various Chinese districts.
The authorities have taken action to spread awareness among people and make them more informed about the possible ways to control the spread. Noting down the surge in the CHIKV virus infection, Hong Kong, the neighbouring country of China too has also taken action to issue an alert regarding this virus.
As per the reports that have been published by the Chinese media outlets, it has been known that chikungunya fever is now spreading at a quick pace in Foshan city, South China.
The local health authorities in the region of Shunde in China have reported a surge in cases of chikungunya. What is alarming is that in this area alone, it has been confirmed that the number of confirmed chikungunya cases has crossed 1,161 by Saturday.
Parallel cases are being reported in other parts of China, too, especially in regions like Shunde, Lecong, Beijiao, Chencun, Nanhai, and Chancheng in China.
As per the World Health Organization (WHO) it has been stated that chikungunya is a CHIKV virus and it is known tospread through mosquitoes. This virus can cause several health issues like joint pain and fever. It has been noted that the fever and pain may vary from patient to patient and in some it can be severe and that can sometimes lead to serious conditions.
The possibility of its spread increases by almost doubling during the rainy or monsoon season. The CHIKV virus is transmitted by female mosquitoes.
The symptoms are highly ambiguous and can often be confused to be something else. The overlapping symptoms may push a delay in diagnoses and treatment. The symptoms may include pain in the joints, fever and nausea. It must be noted that regular medical assistance is required to inhibit the growth of any serious health complications. Many of the doctors have reported that the ambiguous symptoms are being misunderstood, and that has led to many of the cases of fever now being confirmed as dengue upon further investigation.
The people are asked to take all the precautionary measures and ensure that they are eliminating the sources of still water that can serve as a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Apart from this, it is important to take other measures like using nets, wearing clothes that protect your body from mosquitoes and using mosquito repellent, as any leniency can cost more than one can imagine or assume.
