CBI chief Ranjit Sinha on Wednesday expressed regret over the hurt caused by his 'rape' analogy, and expressed commitment towards gender issues.
'I regret any hurt caused as the same was inadvertent and unintended,' Sinha said a day after his controversial remarks comparing rape and betting in sports.
'I reiterate my deep sense of regard and respect for women, and commitment to gender issues,' he said in his brief clarification.
Sinha, while supporting legalistion on betting at an event in Delhi Oct 12, said: 'What is wrong if we legalise betting? Do we have the enforcement agencies (to stop betting)? If you cannot enforce the ban on betting, it is like if you can't prevent rape, you enjoy it.' (Read: If you can't prevent rape, enjoy it: CBI director Ranjit Sinha)
