An official partner of the Cannes Film Festival over the past 30 years, Dessange teamed up with French hairstylist St phane Bodin to present three styles that are likely to be in vogue during the event, which takes place May 14-25.
As it does every year, Dessange will return to Cannes to style the hair of glamorous movie stars before they step out onto the red carpet in front of the Palais des Festivals. Ahead of the event, St phane Bodin, Cannes consultant at Dessange Paris, designed a capsule collection of hairstyles combining simplicity, glamour and an almost casual feel.
The wavy faux bob
After the sleek buns and boyish pixie cuts in vogue last year, slightly more tousled styles are taking over this season, as illustrated by the wavy faux bob from Dessange Paris (in the above picture). Perfect for those who want to try out a bob without lopping off their long locks, this look creates the illusion of a shorter cut by using invisible clips. Subtle waves soften this modern and feminine look, which can also be worn with layers framing the face.
The inverted ponytail
Dessange Paris and St phane Bodin also offer a more glamorous take on one of the top hair trends of the season: the ponytail. A more sophisticated version of the casual updo, the inverse ponytail has a somewhat untamed yet elegant quality, particularly with its twists on both sides of the head. St phane Bodin explains that the ponytail is held in place without the use of a rubber band thanks to the use of a few strategically hidden clips.
The sleek minimalist look
On the opposite end of the spectrum from the wavy bob, this look is perfect for those looking to show off long, straight locks. The sleek minimalist look, seen time and time again on the runways, is bound to make its way to the red carpet at Cannes. St phane Bodin presents a version with a side part that is easy to create at home. Simply straighten the hair and tuck the front strands behind the ears on both sides. The result is simple but ultra-sophisticated.
