ADHD, which stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It's a neurodevelopmental disorder; a person might find it harder to control attention. Some problems, like even sitting still, staying focused and controlling impulses, but it can also help you concentrate on things that you are very much interested in. ADHD symptoms usually start in early childhood, and they continue up to adulthood, and some people do not come to know until their adults. If you are wondering about the cure, then there is no cure for it, but things like medicine and therapy can definitely help with symptoms.
How to know if you are your close ones are suffering from ADHD? Here are some of the ADHD symptoms in adults:
You might find it hard to stay focused, especially during long meetings, reading or tasks that aren't very exciting.
You might find it hard to stay focused, especially during long meetings, reading or tasks that aren't very exciting.
When you are disorganised, keeping your space, schedule or tasks in order can be a challenge.
You might often run late, underestimating how long things will take or procrastinate a lot.
You might start tasks full of energy, but might not be able to complete them and find it really hard to complete them.
Adults may feel very restless when it comes to standing still or sitting down to complete a task.
You might make impulsive decisions or interrupt others without even thinking about them.
You can feel more overwhelmed, frustrated and impatient more easily than others.
ADHD is genetic, which also means that a child is born with this condition that causes differences in their brain development. Children who were born with ADHD usually have siblings with the same condition or biological parents. It mostly impacts the frontal lobe, which makes it difficult for people with ADHD to stay focused. They find it very hard to stay focused on something that is not interesting for them, and it can take a lot of effort to use directed attention with so many interesting things around us.
ADHD treatment often involves a combination of approaches to help manage symptoms effectively. One important method is parent training - where a child is introduced to positive learning and behaviours and which also means to learn to respond to negative behaviours. And then comes medication for ADHD - a person might be put on ADHD medications in order to improve focus or directed attention.
