Britain looking to improve healthcare in TN, Kerala

india britainBritain is engaged in talks with the Tamil Nadu and Kerala governments to improve healthcare in these states as part of its plans to partner with India in improving the healthcare of the country.

'We are talking with Tamil Nadu and Kerala looking to improve the healthcare in these states. We are looking at the possibility of having a zone or area, in which we can improve the healthcare, using our expertise,' British Deputy High Commissioner Bharat Joshi told PTI.

In the case of Tamil Nadu, he said talks were at an early stage with the state government.

Britain has expertise in the field of healthcare and it intended to partner with India to help the masses, so as to reduce the responsibility of state-run general hospitals, he said. (Read: India-Britain to work for affordable healthcare)

'In Kerala, we are in advanced stages of talks with the government. We are also involving the University of East London in the initiative,' he added.

Earlier, UK Minister for Business, Innovation and Skills Dr Vince Cable visited Training and Certification (India) Private Ltd, a British firm providing training and examination services in India, serving a wide range of industrial sectors.
