Maharashtra government's ambitious health programme - 'Jeevan Amrut Yojana' or 'Blood-on-Call' will be launched across the state tomorrow.
The scheme was implemented on a pilot basis in Satara and Sindhudurg districts in February last year.
'Feedback in both the districts, especially in rural and remote areas, was encouraging,' Health Minister Suresh Shetty said here today.
A call centre has been set up in Pune, he said adding that on dialling 104 to the call centre, the information regarding blood requirement will be forwarded to the district blood banks.
'Within an hour's time in the radius of 40 km, the blood would be transported on motorcycles, which have specially fitted cold storage facility,' he said.
