Apple CEO Tim Cook recently came out and declared he is gay and proud! He said, ‘While I have never denied my sexuality, I haven’t publicly acknowledged it either, until now. One’s sexual orientation is often a big deal in the society especially for celebrities who at times have to conceal it in order to protect their image. Jim Parsons

Jim or his onscreen name Sheldon Cooper is one of the most famous celebs on TV today. Known for his whims and quirks in ‘Big Bang Theory’, he is an asexual on the show who hates human touch and is repelled by the thought of coitus. Jim is in a steady relationship with his boyfriend Todd Spiewak.

Ellen DeGeneres

The famous talk show host of ‘The Ellen Show’ is married to Portia di Rossi for the past six years. The couple met at a backstage event of an awards show and have been inseparable since then. Even though there were rumours doing the rounds that the couple is getting divorced, they put it to rest by attending a recent event holding hands and posing candidly for pictures.

Ricky Martin

The Puerto Rican singer dodged the question for years before finally coming out and declaring to the world that he’s gay. He has twin babies and he did not want to start this new chapter of his life with a lie. The singer is also actively involved in garnering support for the LGBT community. He recently appealed to top officials in Puerto Rico to legalise same-sex adoption.

Sir Elton John

He sold over 300 million records and has openly admitted to being gay. Sir Elton John is also quite vocal about what he feels about same-sex marriage and once said in an interview that even Jesus would have approved it. He recently called Pope Francis his ‘hero’ for his compassionate drive to accept gay people in the Catholic church.

Cynthia Nixon

Better remembered as the outspoken lawyer from ‘Sex and the City’, Cynthia portrayed the character of Miranda. Though she played a straight woman onscreen, in reality she is gay. She married her long-time girlfriend and the couple has a son too. She is also a breast cancer survivour.

Jodie Foster

American actress Jodie known for her roles in ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘The Silence of the Lambs’, came out of the closet in 2013 at the Golden Globes Awards after she won the lifetime award. She married her photographer girlfriend this year in April.

Matt Bomber

The ‘White Collar’ actor revealed he’s gay in 2012 and is married to Simon Halls. Though he came out of the closet only two years ago, he told the public that he was married to his husband a year prior to disclosing his sexual orientation.

Sir Ian McKellen

Sir Ian portrayed Gandlaf the Grey in ‘Lord of the Rings’ and was loved for it. He is also a gay activist and supports The Albert Kennedy Trust which helps homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youngsters. He once said in an interview that coming out as gay was the best thing he did.
