AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik at various occasions has been talking about integrating Ayurveda Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy with the conventional system of medicines like Allopathy. PM Narendra Modi while inaugurating the 21st INCOFYRA had stressed upon the need of integrating AYUSH with modern medicine to create a holistic approach of treatment and also reduce the cost of treatment. Modi had also emphasised the need to use techniques of modern methods to test and validate results and assure quality and explain the benefits of yoga.
To ensure quality and uniform educational standards and preventing the growth of fraudulent and fake institutions, the government has decided to standardise, promote, develop and regulate yoga and naturopathy for education and practise. The AYUSH ministry also set up a task force to deliberate and make recommendations to the ministry on various important issues.
In the latest report, the task force suggested setting up a board for promotion and development of Yoga and naturopathy which include --
1. Developing standards for Yoga and Naturopathy training and practices for voluntary adoption.
2. To promote accreditation frame-work relating to Yoga & Naturopathy for voluntary implementation by institution, including drafting of curriculum and syllabus for various degrees, diploma and programmes.
3. To develop methods of competence evaluation of Yoga & Naturopathy practitioners.
In a written reply to the question in Lok Sabha, AYUSH Minister, Shripad Naik also said that the Ministry does not keep a record of fake practitioners and that it is the responsibility of the state government to take action against fake and fraudulent AYUSH practitioners.
