A quick overview about the Maggi controversy
Instant sampling done by the Lucknow Food Safety and Drug Administration showed the product containing 17 parts per million of lead, seven times higher than the permissible limit. However, the final report of the investigation is underway and decision seeking cancellation of the license of Maggi can be ordered only after confirmation.
Reports such as food inspectors have ordered Nestle India to recall a batch of Maggi noodles are doing rounds in the market. A senior official from the FSSAI told TOI that these claims are not true as they haven t ordered any recall. He added that reports from UP are awaited and if positive, they may order nationwide sampling of the same.
