Direct selling FGCG company Amway India today launched a awareness campaign in the city emphasising on the need for a wholesome diet and nutritional supplements to ensure preventive health care. Well known cardiologist of the town Vijay Kumar spoke on importance of macro nutrients like protein, carbohydrate and micro nutrients like vitamins and minerals being part of the diet.
'In reality the average Indian's diet comprises 90 per cent of carbohydrates and fats. We are getting less protein and this will lead to greater medical problems,' an Amway release quoting him said. Speaking on the awareness campaign, Diptarag Bhattacharjee, Vice President, East, Amway India said 'we are what we eat and that is not always good. Today nutrition for most is an afterthought. Fast food constitutes the major part of our diet.'
'Today's hectic stressful life and nutrition for most of us is on the back burner,' Bhattacharjee said after launch of 'colour your diet campaign.'
