Amitabh Bachchan has recently put all his star power behind a campaign to beat TB in Mumbai. A campaign aptly named 'TB harega, Desh Jeetega' is being helmed by the veteran actor, who said that he jumped at the opportunity to spread awareness about the disease that infects thousands everyday. He also added that he had suffered from TB himself but was lucky to have had the right kind of treatment and nutritious food that helped him beat the disease.
The campaign started by MCGM (Municipal Campaign of Greater Mumbai) has been kicked off with an informative video staring Amitabh Bachchan. In the video he tells a gentleman who has had cough for over a month about why it is important to get tested for TB in case of a persistent cough and also says that the condition is completely treatable and preventable.
In a tweet, the senior actor said that he was proud to be associated with the campaign and be able to spread awareness.
After being the brand ambassador for India's fight against polio, Amitabh Bachchan also said that 'Awareness helped us beat #polio, it will help us beat #TB.' in one of his tweets. Apart from that the star also gave essential advice to people about how they should not discriminate against people suffering from the disease and help them recover instead.
