A 9-year-old boy from Assam with a rare condition called frontonasal encephalocele is being hailed as the incarnation of Hindu God Ganesha. Frontonasal encephalocele is a neural tube defect characterised by sac-like protrusions of the brain, which means this little boy has been fighting this condition which has caused his brain to swell out and form a bulge. [1] This condition makes it look like that the kid has a trunk like formation in the nose area as we can see in the picture. According to the media reports, the present condition of the 9year old boy his making him a lot of problems. He is unable to speak properly and is having trouble in seeing correctly too which is sorrowful and is breaking many hearts. But the worst part that is becoming evident and is all over the news is that the locals are worshipping this boy as the incarnation of Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha is the god who has been represented with the head of an elephant. According to media reports, the boy was found by police which handed him over to an NGO. It is said that presently he is looking forward to his surgery which might change his life.
The problem however here is that while on the one hand, India is reaching the moon and Mars, on the other hand, it still believes in the fact that a child suffering from the severe condition is an incarnation of God and instead of actually finding ways to help him out they are worshipping him. India is a free country and practices free choice of religion and caters a liberal environment for each one of us to practice our beliefs and religion. It is the world's largest democracy where so many religion, caste, community, etc. coexist and how! But health conditions? Aren't conditions like these should be spared? We keep on listening to crazy superstitions like a baby born with 3 heads is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and a little girl born with 4 hands is an incarnation of Goddess Durga. Why so much hype to such news? Why are we spreading this and not spreading news like new medical inventions in the medical field? Each one of us has to do our part to make a change. Let's all pledge to spread positive stories.
