Sugary drinks make you overeat

Not only are sugary drinks bad for your health on their own, a new research discovered that they also make you overeat which leads to unnecessary weight gain. Drinks with fructose or refined sugar send signals to the brain of hunger. As a result, after you have a sugary drink, you are likely to feel more hungry than usual. Here’s more about the research.

Non-vegetarians are more happy than vegetarians

This study points out to the fact that vegetarians maybe healthier as compared to non-vegetarians but when it comes to the happiness quotient, meat eaters win hands down. The study concludes that vegetarians are more prone to mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Read how.

A fibre-rich diet aids in weight loss

If you wish to lose weight the healthy way, include foods rich in fibre in your diet. According to this research, fibre helps in increasing the beneficial bacteria in the gut which helps one lose weight. But it has to be a part of your diet on a regular basis. We’ve all heard about the ill-effects of a crash diet but this new study busts these myths and claims that a speedy weight loss diet is in fact better. It analysed 2 groups of people and found that those who lost weight in a jiffy were able to maintain their weight even after 3 years. People who eat home-cooked meals are healthier

If you have a habit of eating out quite often, you may want to stop now. According to a research, people who eat at home are likelier to be healthy than people who eat out as their consumption of sodium, fats is lesser. Also, when people eat out, they tend to eat 200 more calories even if they aren’t eating fast food. Read more…

Most of us have made the switch from white bread to its brown counterpart but this study concludes that the defamed white bread has its own health benefits and should not be shunned. It says white bread encourages the growth of bacteria that actually protect against disease rather than causing it. Read how.

In a bad mood? Most of us reach for a bar of chocolate or a tub of ice cream to get us through the bad phase. But this study proves that these so-called comfort foods are no good in changing our mood. Diabetes could be reversed by following a short-term crash diet

In this study, researchers found that putting diabetics on an 800-calorie diet for a short period could reverse the condition and make them healthier.
