8-year-old dies, swine flu toll rises to 42 in West Bengal

Kolkata, Feb 20: An eight-year-old patient has died due to swine flu here, taking the toll to three in West Bengal, an official said Friday. He was the last of the critical patients and was on ventilation in B.C. Roy Hospital here. He died Thursday night. Three swine flu deaths have been reported so far in the state, Health Secretary Moloy De told IANS. All the three deaths have occurred in Kolkata. Around 6,298 cases have already been reported and more than 485 deaths have occurred due to Swine flu in India, according to health statistics available till 13th February 2015. There has been a massive spurt in cases of swine flu this year, despite the government employing safe practices all over the nation.
