An appropriate diet prepares your body to tackle the situation, say the doctors. Hence, it is important for you to know what to eat and what not to while suffering from measles for a quick recovery.
Have more of vitamin C: Eating vitamin rich foods like grapefruit, oranges and lemon is useful in case you have contracted measles. It enhances your body's immune system to deal with the virus and helps in quick recovery.
Eat more of Vitamin A: It is essential for you to consume products that are rich in Vitamin A like spinach, green leafy vegetables and more as studies have shown that vitamin A plays a vital role in preventing mortality, pneumonia and severe complications among children suffering from measles.
A soft diet is the best choice: Patients suffering from measles should be given a soft diet consisting of fruits, whole grain, cereals and bland soups.
Ginger and sweet basil is good for your ailing health: If you want to improve your body's immunity which is usually poor when hit by measles, drink a boiled mixture of half cup of water, little ginger, two to three leaves of sweet basil (tulsi) and mint leaves.
Avoid greasy foods: It is always wise to stay away from greasy and fatty foods along with processed items during measles as they result in digestive complications and may further aggravate your infection.
Say no to caffeine: Stay away from caffeinated and sweet drinks like coffee and soft drinks as these may increase complications if you are suffering from measles.
